Hunter-Central Rivers Integrated Land Management Project

The Hunter-Central Rivers Integrated Land Management Project aims to improve the knowledge, skills and capacity of rural landholders to engage in natural resource management and sustainable agriculture on their properties, by subsidising the cost of participation in a range of reputable training courses.

Who is eligible?
All private rural land owners and managers within the Hunter-Central Rivers CMA region are eligible to apply for the training subsidy; however the following requirements for eligibility also apply:

  • Applicants must own or manage a rural property within the Hunter-Central Rivers CMA region
  • The actual training for the endorsed course does not have to take place within the Hunter-Central Rivers region
  • Applicants must submit an application form for approval at least two weeks prior to the course commencing
  • The subsidy will be paid to approved landholders on completion of the course
  • Landholders will need to provide proof of course attendance/completion and issue a tax invoice to the CMA for payment of the subsidy
  • Courses must be completed by 31 May 2008 to ensure all payments can be made before 30 June 2008
  • Funds will be allocated on a first come first served basis
  • What courses are endorsed?
The CMA has endorsed 25 courses from eleven different training providers. The courses cover the theme areas of: Farm Planning, Sustainable Grazing, Vegetation Management and Farm Water Supply. View the list of endorsed courses. For more information on individual courses (including location, timing and content) contact the relevant training provider.

    What will be funded?

  • 70% of the course fee to landholders who complete an endorsed course (max. $3000 per property).
  • The CMA will only provide a subsidy on the course fee for courses that have been endorsed by the CMA.
  • The subsidy will be paid to approved landholders only on completion of the course.
  • Landholders can attend multiple CMA endorsed courses; the subsidy will be paid to approved applicants up to the $3000 cap per property.
  • What won't be funded?

  • The CMA will not provide subsidy for participant’s time, accommodation, travel, child care or any other costs associated with attending the course
  • There is no part payment for any incomplete courses
  • The CMA is not providing an additional subsidy for FarmBis registered courses. If the CMA endorsed courses are registered with FarmBis, landholders will need to decide which subsidy they apply for. The CMA will liaise with FarmBis to ensure that only one Australian Government subsidy is paid.
  • How to apply
The Hunter-Central Rivers Integrated Land Management Project will run until June 2008, or until the funds are fully expended.
Step 1: Contact a Catchment Officer at your local CMA Office (see contact list below) and discuss the type of training you would like to undertake and obtain an application form
Step 2: Select the appropriate course and contact the training provider to check when and where the course will be run
Step 3: Apply for the CMA subsidy and register for the course with the training provider as early as possible advising them of your application to the CMA
