Opportunities for community members to attend National Landcare Conference

Date: 6-Aug-2012

Funding has been secured for community members to attend the 2012 National Landcare Conference in Sydney.

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry is offering funding to community members in the Hunter Central Rivers Catchment Management Authority region to attend the 2012 National Landcare Conference being held in Sydney on 3rd 4th and 5th September 2012.
The Conference is an important opportunity for the Landcare community to learn and share innovative practice approaches and solutions as well as opportunities to renew contacts, build new networks and discuss challenges within the wider Landcare movement.
A total of up to $1,000 is being offered. It is expected that this subsidy will cover:
 ·         the attendance of one or two community members who are not attending as part of their salaried employment.
·         full attendance to the conference, including a field trip and the Awards dinner (DAFF will provide this free of charge – on top of the subsidy)
·         travel to and from Sydney
·         accommodation in Sydney
Applicants may visit the conference website www.daff.gov.au/landcareconferencefor further details.
Eligible community members are those who demonstrate active participation within the Landcare or natural resource management community and would benefit from attending the Conference. They must be volunteers who are not attending as part of their salaried employment.
The HCR CMA has been asked to submit the names of community members who wish to be supported through this subsidy to attend the Conference. To complete a nomination, the CMA has been asked to provide the following details of the nominees:

·         Name
·         Landcare or other community group (if applicable)
·         Brief description outlining why the person should receive the subsidy.

Nominees nominated by the CMA will be reviewed by the National Landcare Network and DAFF prior to confirmation of support.
This offer is being circulated to Landcare and community networks and others in the HCR CMA region to attract a range of applicants. Please advise anyone who you think may be interested in attending the conference and encourage them to send their nominations directly to John Wilson at the email or postal address below.
